About Me

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with private practice offices in Davis and Sacramento.  I received my undergraduate and graduate degrees from Purdue University, with a Masters in Counseling in 1976.

My early academic and clinical experiences formed the foundation of my theory and techniques to working with clients. It was a humanistic approach using a family systems model. I have developed over the years an integrative approach, as I have been intrigued and challenged by my clients to learn more ways to help them. Initially working with families and children, I was able to see the impact on everyone when I worked with the couple alone.

It was then I began my journey of actively seeking extensive training and consultation to expand my experience and expertise as a couples therapist. Over the past 25 years I have specialized in couples therapy, including teaching and consultation to others to increase their comfort with the complexities of couple therapy. I continue to love learning and being inspired to integrate the newest research in the fields of neuroscience, couples therapy, sexuality and mindfulness into my work.

Most recently I completed the 4 day Externship in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples with Sue Johnson, Ph.D., author, researcher and founder of EFT. And, since 2008, I have been receiving case consultation from Esther Perel, LMFT, author, speaker and expert in working with intimacy and sexuality in long-term relationships.

I am confident I offer clients the experience and skills of a seasoned therapist while being a professional who actively works to integrate the cutting-edge ideas and research which are in the field today. My approach to working with clients, regardless of whether I see them individually or in their relationship, is collaborative, active and forthright.
